“Listen, Job; stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God! Do you know how God controls the storm and causes the lightning to flash forth from the clouds? Do you understand how He balances the clouds with wonderful perfection and skill?” -Job 37:14-16
“Golden splendor comes from the mountain of God. He is clothed in dazzling splendor. We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty, yet He is so just and merciful that He does not oppress us.” -Job 37: 22-23
“God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things that we cannot comprehend.” -Job 37:5
Wow…take a minute and think about God’s power. He is all-powerful…He created everything and can do so much more than we can even imagine. Really, I mean really think about that. He is our King - the most glorious, powerful, strong, marvelous King ever.
Now, pick up your Bible and read Psalm 139 (It’s too long for me to post here). I’ll be here when you get back. :)
The King of the universe, who has so much power and might, also cares enough about us that He knows when we “sit down or stand up.” He “charts the path ahead of me,” and “every moment knows where I am.” He “knit me together in my mother’s womb, and saw me before I was born.”
I am guilty of trying to “take over.” Throughout Nate’s illness, and especially lately, I just want to do everything I can to help him get better. But sometimes I feel overwhelmed and like it’s “all up to me.” I worry a lot about what our future holds. But God reminded me that He’s in charge. It doesn’t matter what our future holds, it matters who holds our future. One of my favorite songs is by the Newsboys, and one of the lines says, “from life’s first cry, to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, can ever snatch me from his hand. Til He returns, or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.”
Wow! Now there are not a lot of people I trust Nate’s care to, but the creator of the universe? King of Kings, our Savior? Who better to trust? I know, this is something you hear a lot when you are going through hard times. People will tell you, “God’s got this.” Which is true, but I want you to try to hear it in a different way. The God who, with a thought, can move a mountain, loves us so so much, even when we don’t deserve it. Even when you have no idea what the next second holds for you, and when you feel overwhelmed, just remember that God knows exactly what He is doing. He is with you every step of the way. When you really reflect on what that means, go deeper than just the words you have heard so many times before, the whole idea of it changes (or it did for me anyway). We can rest in the comfort and peace of knowing that our Heavenly Father already knows what is going to happen, and it’s part of His divine and wonderful plan.
Love in Him,
Genie Alice
